MEMORIAL SERVICES :11 AM Monday, December 30, 2013 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, MNVISITATION : One hour prior to service at church on MondayINTERMENT : Cloverleaf Cemetery, Willmar, MN. in the springSURVIVORS : Don Henry Peters march 10, 1938 - December 25, 2013 Don Henry Peters was born on March 10, 1938 in Bismarck, North Dakota, the son of Henry Fred and Elizabeth (Neeb) Peters. Don was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Bismarck. The family moved to Willmar, Minnesota in August of 1938. In May, 1952, he was confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church. He attended schools in Willmar graduating from high school in June of 1956. Don served in the United States Navy from 1956-1960 as a meteorologist aboard an aircraft carrier and cruiser. Upon discharge, he enrolled at the University of Minnesota. On September 2, 1961, he married Margaret Anne Bjelkengren in Willmar at Bethel Lutheran Church. A daughter, Kristin, was born in 1962.Don was engaged in the insurance claims profession most of his life. Over the years, he was active in several churches as an Elder and served on various boards and also in many civic organizations. He had been an avid pilot for several years.In 1996, Don and Marg moved to Oregon to spend some years enjoying their daughter and grandchild and families. In 2006, they moved back to Minnesota, settling in Park Rapids. Marg was diagnosed with ALS in 2006 and passed away in 2010.On October 15, 2011, Don married Marvel Haynes of Park Rapids, Minnesota and had been living in Park Rapids since.Don is survived by his wife, Marvel and her children: Brent (Carla) Haynes, Dani (Mark) Ondracek all of Park Rapids; his daughter, Kristin Kreutzer of Hawthorne, CA.; granddaughter, Jesse Klebe Salas and her husband, John Daniel Salas of Lawndale, CA ; his sister-in-law Kay Rudek and her husband, Vic Rudek of Edina, MN; Kay"s brother, Robert and his wife, Miriam Bjelkengren of Park Rapids, MN, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.Don was preceded in death by his late wife, Marg, his parents Fred and Elizabeth Peters, a brother, Gene and a sister, Joan.Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 30, 2013 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, Minnesota with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Reverend Heinecke will be officiating. The organist will be Cheryl Hilgemann. Congregational hymns will be: "Praise to the Lord Almighty", "Jesus Lives, The Victory is Won" and "Eternal Father Strong to Save". Military honors will be provided by the Star Of The North Marine Corps League. Interment will be held at a later time at Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar, Minnesota.
