Pearson June 16, 1927 - January 21, 2014 Allan E. Pearson, age 86, a resident of Park Rapids, MN, passed away on January 21, 2014 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids.Allan was born on June 16, 1927 in Brookings, South Dakota, the son of Alfred and Bertha (Christianson) Pearson. He graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1945. Attending Denver University, he graduated with a major in Accounting and a minor in Business Law. Upon Graduation Allan was commissioned in the Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant. While in the Air Force, Allan received his Masters in Factory Management from Pittsburgh University in Pennsylvania.He married Beverly Franks on September 8, 1949. Together they spent 20 years traveling with the Air Force while he worked as an Auditor. After retiring from the military at the rank of Major, he was employed at Honeywell for another 20 years doing the same overseer work.An educator at heart, Allan saw to it that his grandson Dylan was computer savvy in the days before most students knew that an apple could be something other than what they would give to a teacher.The past 20 plus years he spent "prettifying" the land he and Beverly summered on in Park Rapids. Many evenings were spent working on jigsaw puzzles, it was probably the Auditor in him that made him the "blob master" while the puzzles unfolded.An avid reader Allan devoured mystery, sci-fi, fantasy and world news. He was in his glory while forming and sharing opinions with friends and relatives. He passed on his passion for reading to his children, grandson and many nieces and nephews.Allan will be remembered as a gentle man who always doffed his cap upon entering a building, greeting folks by name and smiling while he turned a pun for fun.Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother: Donald Pearson, two sisters-in-law: Marjorie (Franks) Town and Charlotte (Franks) Anderson, and a brother-in-law: Don Town.Survivors include his wife: Beverly Pearson, daughter: Sharlene (Rollie) Jacobsen of Park Rapids, son: Larry (Tanja and daughter Miriam) Pearson of Ratingen, Germany and one grandchild: Dylan (Regan) Jacobsen of Madison, WI. Also survived by sisters-in "law: LaMae James of Park Rapids, Virginia (Bill) Guegel of Park Rapids, Lola Matson of Moorhead, brother-in-law, Dick Anderson of Fergus Falls, and many well loved nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, with a one hour visitation prior to service. Interment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Alzheimers or Heritage Living Center or the Friends of the Library.
