Jerome Christopher "Jerry" Deblieck

Jerry Christopher "Jerry" DeBlieck, age 56 of Park Rapids, MN passed away at his home near Osage on Monday, April 29, 2014. Jerry was born on October 12, 1957 in Jamestown, ND to Donald and Patricia (Schmidt) DeBlieck. At the age of 4, he moved with his family to Appleton, MN where he began attending public elementary school. In 1965, the DeBlieck's moved to Park Rapids where he attended St. Peter's Catholic School through the eighth grade. Jerry then attended Park Rapids Public High School from where he graduated with the class of 1976. As a boy, Jerry enjoyed working with cars and started working for the Earl Holme's Champlin Service Station at the age of 10. Later he worked for the Texaco Station which he purchased in 1978. On May 4, 1977, Jerry was united in marriage to Rebecca Stangel at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Park Rapids. This union was blessed with seven children: SaNona, Chris, Andrew, Jacob, Simon, Adam and Kerrie. In 1982, Jerry and Rebecca purchased a small hobby farm near Osage where they raised their family and a small herd of cattle and other animals. Each spring he looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden which he nurtured into fruitful abundance to share with his family and friends. In 1989, Jerry began the "Jerry DeBlieck's Budget Auto" in Park Rapids and with the help of his family has repaired cars for his loyal customer base for the past 25 years. He loved the out doors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and taking walks through his property. Jerry was a long time member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Osage Sportsman's Club. Above all, Jerry devoted his life to his precious wife and his dearly loved children, grandchildren and mother. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rebecca; his seven children: SaNona (Claudio) Leone of Montecilfone, Italy, Chris (Ky) DeBlieck of Park Rapids, Andrew (Susan) DeBlieck of Audubon, MN, Jacob (Jennifer) DeBlieck of Park Rapids, Simon (Kari) DeBlieck of Alexandria, MN, Adam (Jennifer) DeBlieck of Park Rapids and Kerrie (Zack) DeBlieck of Osage; 18 beloved grandchildren; his mother, Patricia of Park Rapids; two sisters: Gwen DeBlieck of Edmonton, WA and Beth DeBlieck of Shelby, NC; three brothers: Doug (Rosemary) DeBlieck of Bemidji, MN, Brian (Carol) DeBlieck of Cottage Grove, MN and Brad (Lois) DeBlieck of Gastonia, NC as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, his brother, Tom; one nephew, Stephen Joseph and his grandparents. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids with Father Tom Friedl officiating. Annette Haas will lead the music. The active casket bearers will be his sons and daughter, Kerrie. The honorary casket bearers will be his grandchildren: Sadie Leone and Gabi, Tucker, Oliver, Claudia, Paul, Isabelle, Juliet, Kate, Pierce, Breanna, Maxwell, Sawyer, Gage, Kayla, Lilly, Johnathan, and Rodney DeBlieck. Interment will be made in the St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Cemetery. Following the service a luncheon will be hosted by the St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with a rosary service led by the Knights of Columbus at 7 PM.
