Lorna Elaine Boyd, age 58, a life long Osage-Park Rapids area resident, entered eternity at her home near Osage with her loved ones at her side on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Lorna was born on July 20, 1955 in Minneapolis, MN to Loren and Betty (Arnold) Decker. At the age of one year, she moved with her family to a farm near Osage, MN. She attended the Osage Public School through the 6th grade. She went on to attend high school in Park Rapids. As a young woman, Lorna got married and moved to Texas where her oldest son, Chad was born. In 1974, they returned to Minnesota and settled in Eagle Bend where her son, William "Willy" was born. On August 28, 1977, Lorna and her two small boys joined the Gene Boyd family where she raised Gene's children as her own. Lorna devoted her life to making a loving home for her husband and children. She was an awesome cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious and wholesome home cooking. In addition to caring for her family, Lorna loved to spend time as a companion and helper to a number of elderly friends. In 2006, Lorna was diagnosed with breast cancer and fought a valiant battle against this dreaded disease. Through her illness she kept an incredible upbeat and positive attitude. Never once did she complain or feel sorry for herself. Lorna dealt with her illness with dignity and optimism and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She especially loved the time she could spend with her family and friends. She really enjoyed her twice daily trips to OBT in Osage where she spent time with her coffee gang. Lorna enjoyed raising beautiful flowers for all to enjoy. Above all, Lorna dedicated her life to her husband and soulmate, Gene for these past 37 years and to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved with all her heart.
