Ronald Charles Whiddon , age 82 of Akeley, MN, passed away on Tuesday August 5, 2014 at Essentia Health in Fargo ND. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 9, 2014 At Faithbridge Church located at 505 Park Avenue S Park Rapids,MN,56470. WHIDDON June 21, 1932 - August 5, 2014 Ronald C. Whiddon was born on June 21, 1932 to Charles and Grace Whiddon at City Hospital, London, England. He received most of his formal education in London schools; Tollington Park Central School providing high school instruction and Pitman's College preparation for a career in accounting and business. World War II raged during these school years in London and he experienced the Blitz bombings, V1 Buzzbombs and V2 Rocket attacks. An early proficiency in accounting led to natural career selection. Ron spent years primarily as an independent (public) accountant and business consultant with clients in the London, New York and Los Angeles areas. In 1969 he bought Coast Office Equipment & Supply Co. in Orange County, CA and operated it until retiring in 1993. Ronald came to the USA in 1950 (becoming a citizen in 1962) and settled in the New York/ New Jersey area. While there he met and married Myrtle L. Newman and they were blessed with four children; Kathleen, Carol, Bonnie and David. During this period Ron accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and endeavored to serve Him the rest of his life. He served as youth leader, teacher, prison ministries, treasurer etc. After moving to California in 1953 and continuing his accounting/management career Ron was invited in 1955 to serve as CFO and Business Manager of Southern California College. He served in that capacity for some 15 years. During this time a Minnesota Miss, Beverly Edelman, came into his life and later became his wife. Their marriage was blessed with five children; Garth, Christy, Dawn, Ronald and Rhett. In 1998 Ron and Beverly moved to Hubbard County, MN and bought, and enjoyed a home on 11th Crow Wing Lake and also became members of Faith Baptist Church in Park Rapids, MN. Ron is survived by his beloved wife Beverly and his nine children; Kathleen (Arnie) Durel of Laguna Niguel, CA. Carol (Dan) Bathauer of Upland, CA. , Bonnie (Kapp) Johnson of Northridge, CA., David (Lori) Whiddon of Sacramento, CA., Garth (Tania) Whiddon of Dumont, MN., Christy (Hkan) Whiddon-Carlsson of Hviksns, Sweden, Dawn Whiddon of Akeley, MN., Ronald J. Whiddon of Hangzhou, China, and Rhett (Ann) Whiddon of Hazen, ND. There are 23 beloved grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and two sisters, Pauline Park of Reno, NV and Barbara Alvarez of S.
