Leone Jeffers

LEONE GAIL JEFFERS July 19, 1936 - November 28, 2014 Leone Gail Jeffers, age 78 of Park Rapids, MN, formerly of Seattle and the Spokane, WA areas, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Heritage Living Center following a period of declining health. Leone was born on July 19, 1936 in Park Rapids to Harry and Alma (Ruhnke) Town. She attended the Park Rapids Public School through the tenth grade. She moved with her family to the Kelso, WA area where she graduated from the Kelso High School with the Class of 1954. She was united in marriage to H.David Karr in 1954. Her husband was serving his country as a member of the United States Air Force and was based in Missouri and Nebraska during their marriage. In 1961 Leone returned to Park Rapids where she worked as a legal secretary for the City Attorney, Michael Goggins until moving to Seattle with her family in 1969. She later moved to Spokane, WA where she was a part-owner of the Brown-Wilbert Burial Vault franchise there. In September of 2014, Leone returned to Park Rapids where she made her home until the time of her death. Leone was an avid golfer and loved to play cards with friends and family. She will be lovingly remembered by her four sons: Michael Karr, Stephen Karr, Donald Karr and Richard Karr; her eight grandchildren; one sister, Helen Anderson of Des Moines, IA and her brothers: Thomas Town of Minneapolis and David (Marion) Town of Park Rapids; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, Leone was preceded in death by her husband H. David Karr, her daughter, Kim Gardipee; four brothers: Robert, James, Donald and Charles and three sisters: Dorothy, Gene and Ruth. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Pastor Tim Heinecke officiating. Dorothy Crook will be the Pianist. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids, MN.
