ALICE MILDRED SORENSON December 7, 1922 - November 30, 2014 Alice M. Sorenson, age 91, of Menahga, MN passed away on November 30, 2014 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield, MN. Alice Sorenson was born December 7, 1922 in Blueberry Township of Wadena County, MN, to William and Florence (Bennett) Crandall. She received an 8th grade education at the 28th South School in Blueberry Township. She and Harold graduated together, even though they attended different country schools. Alice was baptized in Spirit Lake, in Menahga, at the age of 18. On December 2, 1944, Alice was united in marriage to Harold Sorenson. Together they made their home in Red Eye Township between Menahga and Sebeka where they operated a dairy farm. Alice worked for Jennie-O Foods in Willmar, MN from 1975 to 1985. She was especially talented in the kitchen and enjoyed preparing wonderful meals and baking for her family. Sewing, crocheting, and knitting were favorite hobbies; over the years she created many precious gifts for family and friends. Alice and Harold loved to dance. She especially loved spending time with her family and visiting with her neighbors and friends. Alice will be dearly missed by her children; Patricia Louise (Jack) Ulrich of Litchfield, MN, Harold Wayne (Janel) Sorenson of Atwater, MN, Ann Marie (Bob) Bringgold of Coon Rapids, MN, and Sheryl Lynn Mahn of Waite Park; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold, one son, Ronald Albert Sorenson who died tragically in 1965; four sisters and six brothers. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN, with the Reverend James Hallaway officiating. Active casket bearers were: Wade Siegel, Corey Siegel, Ray Ulrich, Jayme Watson, Darrell Olson, and Darwin Olson. Honorary casket bearers were: Melanie Watson, Rachelle Mahn, Peggy Eklund, Mylissa Bringgold and Michael Bringgold. Interment will be made in the Sorenson family plot at the Menahga City Cemetery in Menahga, MN. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service.
