Greta Mae Hendricks, age 94, of Burnsville, formerly of Park Rapids, MN, passed away on Thursday June 25, 2015 at her home in Burnsville. Greta was born on June 26, 1920, to Ben and Mamie (Junkin) Tate at Jackson, MN. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1937. As a young woman, Greta worked for the Jackson County ASCS office for a time. On June 22, 1941 Greta was united in marriage to Salem "Bud" Hendricks at the Jackson Methodist Church. This union was blessed with three sons and a daughter. Greta dedicated her life to making a warm and loving home for her family, and she was devoted to making sure the family she loved with all her heart was happy. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious pies. Each spring she would look forward to planting a large vegetable garden which she would nurture into fruitful abundance. Greta and Bud farmed near Bergen, MN until 1962, when they sold the farm and moved to New Jersey. Bud operated a service station in New Jersey until 1973, when they moved to Park Rapids; Bud and Greta owned and operated several businesses in Park Rapids during their time there. Greta was active at Riverside United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school and holding offices in the United Methodist Women's Society. In 2003, Greta and Bud moved to an apartment in Burnsville, MN to be nearer their family, where Greta became a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Greta is survived by daughter Kay (John) Meisser of Burnsville, MN and son David (Minette) Hendricks of Eden Prairie, MN; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; one sister, Oma Grove of Adrian, MN; one brother, Dr. Wayne Tate of South St. Paul, MN; brothers-in-law Richard (Joan) Hendricks, Orrin Holmen and Dan Como Sr.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Greta's life was saddened by the death of her nineteen year old son, James Wayne, in 1971 and an infant son who died at birth, as well as the death of her husband Bud, both her parents, a sister Alma Johnson and numerous in-laws.
