WALTER ALAN "Wally" ARNEMANN September 25, 1960 - August 18, 2015 Walter Alan "Wally" Arnemann, age 54, of the Park Rapids-Ponsford, MN areas, passed away unexpectedly at his home near Ponsford on Monday, August 17, 2015. Wally was born on September 25, 1960 in Minneapolis, MN to Neal and Phyllis (Sutherland) Arnemann. It was in the Minneapolis area that he attended public schools, graduating from Edison High School with the Class of 1978. Wally made his home in the Minneapolis area until relocating to Park Rapids to be closer to his sister, Beth in 1993. He moved to Southwest Florida in 2002 where he made his home for several years until returning to the Park Rapids area in 2005. Wally was very gifted in working with anything mechanical or electrical. He enjoyed working for the FMC Corporation in Fridley for a number of years engineering and building missle launchers for the United States Navy. When he moved to Park Rapids he performed lab work in testing the raw product coming in for processing each day. Later he worked for several years for Utke Hardware and Rental and then rounded out his working career with Park Ace Hardware where he always impressed his fellow workers and customers with his handyman knowledge covering a vast variety of projects. Wally was a man of many interests. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed collecting guns of all types and models. He also had a deep love for music and especially enjoyed playing and collecting guitars. Wally also enjoyed working on his cars, boats and motorcycle and took pride in keeping everything running with perfection. He had a green thumb and each spring looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden which he would nurture into fruitful abundance to can and share with his family and friends. Above all, Wally loved his daughter, Tracy and his four grandchildren: Zoe age 12, Dylan age 11, Jacob age 8 and Chloe age 6 all of whom he proudly shared pictures and updates of to his friends. He truly loved them with all his heart. Wally will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Tracy Layland and four precious grandchildren all of Hawthorne, CA; his sister, Beth (Bill) Hensel of Park Rapids and his special niece, Amy (Sam III) Post of Nevis, MN and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Funeral services will be held 7 PM Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids. Special music will be provided by his good friend, Tim Sharp. Sharing of memories will be provided by friends and family. Scripture and prayer was shared by Tim Pearson. Visitation will be held beginning at 5 PM Monday. A time of refreshments and fellowship will be held following the service.
