Mayme Crackel, age 83 of Monticello, MN, came to be with the Lord Monday September 7, 2015 at the Monticello Care Center. Mayme was born on the John-Lake farm east of Menahga on February 21, 1932, to Parents John and Annie (Kinnunen) Lake. She married Wilbur Crackel on July 5, 1952 in Wadena County, MN and they first moved to an army base in Texas from 1953 to 1955. They moved to Silver Bay Minnesota in 1956 where Wilbur was employed for 30 years by Reserve mining. In 1986, Mayme and family moved to California for 8 years before moving back to Minnesota in 1994. Whether it was her love for music, playing cards with her friends and family, or writing her pen pals, Mayme had an immense joy for life. She was an entrepreneur at heart, starting Crackel and Company in Jamestown, CA, selling her arts and crafts. Her on-the-go personality shown through during her time on a bowling league, where she attended many state tournaments and received a few trophies. Being the bingo fanatic she was, Mayme could be found at one of her favorite bingo spots every Saturday. Survivors include: John (Socela) Crackel of Ocla FL, Gene (Jacqueline) Crackel of Two Harbors MN, Luanne (Earl) Tedrick of Silver Bay MN, Joe (Beverly) Crackel of Monticello MN, Julee (Jeff) Dehart of Silver Bay MN; six grandchildren Joshua, Levi, Lydia, Jacob, Emily, Jared and one great-grandchild Joshua; brother Leroy (June) Lake of Menahga; sister Leila Stansbury of Park Rapids MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wilbur Crackel on March 16, 2004; brothers Andrew, Henry, Jalmer, Carl, and Raymond, and sisters Elsie Lake, Ellen Hillstrom and Helmi Laitinen. Mayme was baptized and confirmed at the rural meadow Apostolic Lutheran Church. The family has been members of the Silver Bay United Protestant Church in Silver Bay MN since 1965. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN; visitation at 10 A.M.
