GEORGINE ANN SMITH May 6, 1944 - September 17, 2015 Georgine Ann Smith, age 71, a life long Park Rapids, MN area resident, passed into eternal life on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids with her loving cousins at her side. Georgine was born on May 6, 1944 on the Joe and Kate Pachel farm near Two Inlets. She attended the Two Inlets Country School through the 5th grade and then went on to attend school in Park Rapids where she graduated from high school with the Class of 1962. She grew up helping on her grandparent's farm. On June 4, 1966, Georgine was walked down the aisle by her favorite uncle, Fred Higgins and given in marriage to her long time boyfriend, Donald Leo Smith at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Two Inlets, MN. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters: Brenda and Sheila. Georgine devoted her life to making a warm and loving home for her husband and daughters. She was a wonderful cook and baker and loved to sew clothes for her girls and knit them sweaters. Once her daughters were both in school, Georgine began working at Hafner's Floral & Greenhouse in a career that spanned over 15 years. Georgine was an avid bowler and participated on the Women's Bowling League for many years. She was active in the St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church where she brought her daughters to attend mass each week. Her life was forever saddened by the death of her beloved husband in 1988 when he was just 51 years old. She also endured the heartache of her daughter, Sheila's tragic death in an automobile accident in 2007. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Brenda Smith of Hillman, MN; three precious grandchildren: Brandon(Katie) Smith of Park Rapids, Derick Dudley, Sr of Lastrup, MN and Brook Dudley of Little Falls, MN; five great grandchildren: Derick, Jr., Brielle, Kianna, Zoey and Max; her brother, Francis Pachel ofAZ; as well as many cousins, other relatives and friends. Georgine was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes Pachel; her husband; her daughter, Sheila and one brother, Jimmy Pachel. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN with Father Tom Friedl officiating. Visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Park Rapids, MN.
