Mary Joan "Jo" Clark passed away peacefully on October 6, 2015. She was born on March 20, 1926 to the late Lena (Nelson) and George H. Cowen in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended local schools and graduated from East Des Moines High School in 1944. Jo married Raymond E. Clark in Paulsbo, Washington on November 28, 1945, while Ray was still in the Navy. They settled in Des Moines after his discharge where Jo worked for the State of Iowa as a stenographer. After raising their children, Ray and Jo moved to Long Lake in Park Rapids, Minnesota where they spent many happy years. Jo had many hobbies over the years and was a very artistic painter. She truly loved taking care of her dogs and cats, which provided her with much joy. She also enjoyed being on her computer, and especially liked playing video games with her daughter and granddaughter. Jo was one of the nicest people one would ever hope to meet. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters: Dorothy and Irene; and her husband. She is survived by her son Stephen and his partner Susan Rice of Pinos Altos, New Mexico; daughter, Susan and her partner Anthony Myrill, of Waterford, Connecticut; and granddaughter Jillian and her fiancé Nathan Lacey, of Groton, Connecticut.
