Daniel Alan Huffman, age 40, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 5, 2015, while doing what he loved, being out in the woods and cutting wood in service to another. Daniel was born January 12, 1975, to David and Beverly Huffman in South Bend, Indiana and grew up in nearby Leesburg. He married Sharon Faith Henderson on June 17, 2000 in Park Rapids, Minnesota and they have lived in the Park Rapids/Menahga area since. Daniel attended Atwood Elementary School in Warsaw, Indiana and graduated from high school in 1993. He enjoyed 4-H in his younger years and participated in Cross Country and FFA in high school. He received a BA in pastoral ministry degree from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida, in 2000. After moving to Park Rapids, he worked in different positions including the Holiday Station, First Baptist Christian School and Northland Lumber. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, working outdoors, landscaping and especially serving others in whatever capacity they needed. Daniel was a loving husband and father. He and Sharon were blessed to be the parents of two boys. They enjoyed traveling, working, playing and just being a family together. Daniel was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, teacher, children’s minister and preacher. He had a love for the word of God and a special gift for ministry to children. He readily gave a “high 5 and a smile” to any child he met. He loved to serve others and there were many who were on the receiving end of this gift. Daniel is survived by his wife; two sons; his parents, Dave and Bev Huffman; sisters, Jennifer and Jody (Greg) Hatcher all from Indiana; his grandfather, Max Sparks; many aunts, uncle and cousins and extended family, Al and Pat Henderson and Mary and Dave and family. Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, December 11, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 909 Eighth Street West in Park Rapids. Visitation will be an hour before the service at First Baptist Church.
