Robert Joseph Dreckman, 82, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Park Rapids. Robert was born March 5, 1933 in LeMars, Iowa to Harry Francis and Mercedas Dreckman. He grew up in LeMars and obtained his education at the Gehlen Catholic School in LeMars. Soon after leaving high school, Robert enlisted in the service of his country serving in the Navy, Army, and Air Force for over 16 years. Robert married DeLoriese Wood in 1980 in Fayetteville, Arkansas where they lived until moving to Rock Hill, South Carolina where they sang in the choir and worked for Heritage USA, Jim and Tammy Baker’s PTL ministry. After leaving Rock Hill they moved to Hawarden, Iowa to be near his brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Peggy Dreckman. DeLoriese passed away April 1, 2006. Robert moved to Park Rapids where his step son Terry and his family lived in 2007. He attended the Park Rapids Assembly Of God where he met Vicki Cheney. The two were united in marriage November 6, 2010. Robert was a Motor Cycle mechanic for many years and was a prison guard in Flagstaff, Arizona. He enjoyed hunting and shooting guns, especially cowboy style, with his brother Kenneth. Robert is survived by his wife, Vicki of Park Rapids; step-son Terry (Renea) Wood of Park Rapids; four step grandchildren: Jeremy Wood of Abilene, Texas, Leia Brooker of Lubbock, Texas, Samuel and Robert Wood of Park Rapids; four step great grandsons and one step great granddaughter; three sisters: Irene (John) Swanson and Kathy (Terry) Ferig both of Sioux City, Iowa, Angie (Robert) McClure of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Marv Dreckman of Chatsworth, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by two wives, Louise and DeLoriese; one sister, Rosalie Anabtowi; and three brothers: Thomas, Daniel, and Kenneth. Funeral services for Robert will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Park Rapids Assembly Of God with Pastor Tim Wilson officiating. Soloist will be Myron Ready, who will sing “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Where the Roses Never Fade”. The organist will be Valdonna Jenson. Congregational hymn will be “Amazing Grace”. Casket bearers will be Delbert Warmbold, Tim Schmid, Dave Danks, Carl Peterson, Dave Demmon and Jack Shaw. Interment will be made at Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids.
