Margaret "Marjean" Jean Engelhart

January 21, 1926 — July 22, 2016

Marjean Engelhart, age 90, a long time Park Rapids, MN area resident, passed into eternal life on Friday, July 22, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids with her loved ones at her side.       Marjean was born on January 21, 1926 in Middleton, Ohio to Charles and Alice (Ulmer) Henderson.  As a small child she moved with her family to Chicago, IL where she completed her public school education, graduating from the Hyde Park High School with the Class of 1944.  On March 8, 1945, she was united in marriage to Raymond Engelhart.  They adopted two precious little sisters: Carla and Janet in October of 1952.  In 1957, Marjean and her family moved to Eau Claire, WI where in 1960 she began training to become a Registered Nurse and completed this rigorous program in 1965.  In 1965, the Engelhart family moved to Rochester, MN where Marjean served as Head Nurse of the Renal Unit at the Mayo Clinic.  In 1969 they moved to Park Rapids where Marjean worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital and was instrumental in establishing the Intensive Care Unit.  In 1983, she accepted God’s call to Africa where she served the Lord as a missionary nurse on the Ivory Coast at a missionary school called “Cote d’ Ivoire” .  While there, Marjean met and established a dear friendship with Marlene Geraud which has blessed Marjean’s life right up to the present time.  In 1993, she retired to the Park Rapids area where she has made her home since.  Marjean was a dearly loved member of the Faithbridge Church family in Park Rapids.  Throughout her life, Marjean’s love for the Lord and her love children made it a natural for her and her friend Marlene, to lead the Vacation Bible School program at Faith and at one time direct the youth choir.       She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Carla Jones of Highland Park, IL and Janet Soule of Park Rapids; six grandchildren and five precious great grandchildren; as well as three nieces, two nephews; and other relatives and many friends.       Marjean was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Engelhart and two brothers: Richard and Robert.       Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Faithbridge Church in Park Rapids with the Rev. Marty Giese, Rev. Keith Butler and Rev. David Cripe officiating.  The organist will be Jan Henderson.    Following the service a luncheon will be hosted by the Faithbridge Church.  Interment will be made in the Riverside Cemetery near Longville.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday evening at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and will continue beginning one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  To leave online condolences or to view the video tribute please visit www.jonespearson.com.
