Sharon Mead

Sharon Lee Mead, age 82, of Menahga passed away suddenly in her home on September 27, 2016.  She was born on July 23, 1934 in Smithland, Iowa the daughter of Dean Hagerdon and Inez Lloyd.  She married DeWayne Mead on July 15, 1956 near Austin, MN and they have shared 60 years together, and this union was blessed with three daughters.  They lived several years in the Brooklyn Park area, then retired and moved to Menahga on Duck Lake in the early 1990s.  She will be remembered for her cooking skills in the kitchen, baking, cooking & canning. Sharon was an amazing and talented cake decorator, she took care of each of her grandchildren and had a hand in raising them, and she enjoyed all of their activities and spending time with her family was the most important thing to her.  She is survived by her husband , DeWayne Mead of Menahga, three daughters: Victoria (husband Glenn)Frenstad of Maple Grove, MN and Valerie Kelsey (husband Kirk) of Mound, MN and Renae Sells (husband Mark) of Maple Grove, MN. Also surviving are six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a sister, Linda Sulsberger of Smithland, IA.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Larry Haney Jr.  A Celebration of her life will be held 11 AM on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, with visitation held one hour prior to the services at the church.
