LINDA C. ROBERDS July 25, 1943 – November 2, 2016 Linda Cheryle Roberds, age 73, of Park Rapids, MN peacefully passed into eternal life on Wednesday evening November 2, 2016 at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga with her daughter, Jamie at her side. Linda was born on July 25, 1943 in Preston, MN to Lynn & Venita (Meyers) Cannon. Her growing up years were spent in Iowa and Pine City, MN. After graduating from high school, Linda attended college in Minneapolis where she studied food science. As a young woman she gained employment working at Mission Farms of Plymouth where she was manager of the dietary department. Later she moved to Missouri where she managed a convenience store. There she met Don Roberds and the two were married on June 18, 1988. Linda began teaching food service and nutrition in the state prison located in Pacific, MO for seven years. In the mid 1990’s Linda moved with her family to the Onamia, MN area where she continued teaching food service and nutrition to troubled youth. In the mid 2000’s she and Don retired to the Park Rapids and Nevis area where she enjoyed baking, tending to her flower gardens, listening to music, reading and shopping. Above all she devoted her life to her family who she loved with all of her heart. She devoted herself to making a loving home for her husband and children and later grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting, and her delicious goulash and shrimp pasta. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie (Terry) Pickar of Nevis, MN; one son Andy (Charisse) Karpen of Ankeny, Iowa; eight grandchildren and one great great grandson; two sisters Jan (John) Zentz of Park Rapids, Helen (Dale) Wing of Texas, one brother, Del (Mary) Cannon of Park Rapids, and her very special sister Terri (Dave) O’Brien of Big Lake, MN and one sister-in-law, Kathy Cannon of the Twin Cities, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her daughter, Heather; one son, John; her parents and her brother Al. Memorial services will be held 1 PM Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, with visitation one hour prior to services beginning at noon.
