Russell W. Quick, age 88 of Menahga, MN, formerly of Plummer, MN, peacefully passed into eternity on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. Russell was born on December 30, 1928 in Kennan, Wisconsin to Gustave and Martha (Mickelson) Quick. In 1931, Russell’s family moved to Ulen, MN where they resided for a number of years. In 1935, the Quick family moved to the Felton-Borup, MN area. Here Russell attended public school, graduating with the class of 1947. As a young man, Russell farmed with his dad for a time. In 1950, he entered the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1952. Upon returning to civilian life, Russell attended the Hanson Mechanic Trade School in Fargo, North Dakota. Following this he began a career in road construction which lasted for sixteen years. On May 29, 1968, Russell was united in marriage to Oneita Olson. The Quick family made their first home in Borup, MN before moving to Plummer, MN where they took over farming the family homestead in a career that spanned thirty years. In 1998 they retired to Menahga, MN where they have resided up to the present time. Russell’s deep rooted faith and serving the Lord and Savior was an important part of his life. He was active in his church fellowship. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Oneita of Menahga; his two children: Nona (Art) Huebner of Menahga and Roy (Elizabeth) Quick of Plummer, MN; five grandchildren: Brandon, Andy, Sarah, Daniel and Abby; three great grandchildren: Breona Smith, Braydon Smith and Gavyn McCullough; two sisters: Hazel Wolff of St. Paul, MN, Lillian Nelson of Corvalis, OR; three brothers: Harold (Jean) Quick of Moorhead, MN and Victor (Astrida) Quick of Moorhead, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Russell was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers: Earl, Verney, Lester, Lloyd, Clarence and David; l sister, Arlene Smith; three brothers-in-law: Herb Smith, Willis Wolff and Dick Nelson. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga with Bruce Van Stelton and David Bergh officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM Friday, Feb. 17th at the funeral home and will continue on Saturday beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will be made in the Menahga City Cemetery. Following the service a luncheon will be hosted at the fellowship hall in the lower level of Woodside Manor Assisted Living in the rear of the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home for all.
