Dick was born on April 20, 1935 in Warsaw, Indiana to Walter and Irene (Holloway) Hyde. He attended public schools and grew into manhood in Warsaw where he graduated from high school with the class of 1953. Dick then went on to attend business college in Southbend, IN to prepare himself for his life’s work. On February 6, 1954, he was united in marriage to Barbara Faye Grubbs in Warsaw. This union was blessed with four children: Robin, Bob, Molly and Roger. Dick worked for the Sun Metal Production Company where he worked his way up to Vice-President of Manufacturing. He was able to take early retirement in 1984 when he moved to live full-time at his lake home north of Osage, MN. After some time, Dick found the need to keep busy so he gained employment working as a dispatcher for Holmer Trucking, Inc., in a second career that spanned over 15 years. In his spare time, Dick enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling. He was a very talented bowler and was inducted into the Warsaw, IN Bowlers Hall of Fame. In the early 1970’s, Dick was selected as one of Warsaw’s best amateur bowlers to go up against the Stroh’s Professional Bowling Team and he served his community very well in that competition. Even late in life, he was still competing on Men’s leagues in both Park Rapids and Detroit Lakes. He often enjoyed getting together with his friends Jerry Holmer and Carl Sundquist to discuss current affairs over a cup of coffee. He will be lovingly remembered by his three children: Robin (Mark) Eakes of Mt. Juliet, TN, Molly Mortimer of Biloxi, MS and Roger Hyde of Warsaw, IN; four grandchildren: Denise Ferrell, John Robert Eakes, Lesley Anne Eakes and Joshua Hyde; three greatgrandchildren: Justin, Maci and Vivianna; as well as his good friends: Jerry and Mary Holmer of Osage, MN and Carl Sundquist of Park Rapids, MN.
