Greg Carpenter Magoris, age 69, of Park Rapids, MN, formerly of Mpls., died September 5, 2017 in Fargo, North Dakota from complications due to cancer. He was born March 3, 1948 in Warren, Minnesota to Gerald and Una Mae Magoris. He is survived by his daughter, Kristin Magoris, brother Tom Magoris (Anna), sister Jayne Wisler (Glade), and brother in law Joe Armbruster along with many precious nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Una Mae Magoris, brothers John Phillip and Lynn Magoris, and sister Karen Armbruster. Greg was proud to have served in the United States Navy from 1968 through 1971 during which his tour of duty included Vietnam. After retirement, Greg enjoyed his volunteer service driving fellow veterans to their medical appointments. His ongoing relationships with veterans young and old was a very important part of his life. Greg was married to Patricia Koch Magoris for 27 years. They resided in Minneapolis, Minnesota where they adopted their daughter, Kristin. He worked in insurance for Seagate, Aetna, and Allina. As a family, they enjoyed camping, yearly trips to Duluth and the north shore of Lake Superior and family holiday celebrations. After his divorce, Greg moved to Park Rapids to be near his brother Tom and his wife Anna. He enjoyed returning to small town life where he made new friends and was warmly received by Anna's family. He developed a love of travel, making many trips across the USA. Greg was a life- long sports fan. A loyal MN Twins and Minnesota Golden Gopher football and basketball fan, Greg always knew their stats and loved going to the games with Kristin. Greg also loved to read, always willing to give and receive recommendations for new books and take long walks. He will be missed by many.
