PATSY ANN DENNIS November 11, 1940 – October 6, 2017 Pat was born during the historic Armistice Day blizzard of November 11, 1940 in Park Rapids. The snow was so deep her family could not make it to the hospital several blocks away so little Patsy entered this world at home. She grew up in Park Rapids and from a very young age was raised by her grandparents, Ella and Leslie Devereaus who she loved very much. Pat attended the Park Rapids Public School and graduated from high school with the Class of 1958. On August 20, 1960, Pat was united in marriage to Lyle Arville Dennis. This union was blessed with four daughters: Lori, Pam, Jan and Barb. Pat devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and daughters. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious crème filled chocolate cupcakes, her cheese cakes and her chocolate cherry ice cream cake as well as her ever present abundance of all types of homemade cookies. In addition to caring for her family, Pat worked right alongside her husband, Lyle in completing the daily chores around the farm including; feeding and milking their herd of Holstein dairy cows twice per day. Each spring she would plant a large vegetable garden which she, along with the help of her girls, would nurture into fruitful abundance to preserve for the needs of her growing family. Pat would often sew dresses and other clothes for her girls. When time allowed she would knit or crochet gifts for family and friends. Pat and Lyle sold their dairy herd in 1986; but, continued keeping busy on the farm with a herd of beef cattle. In 1994, Pat began working in the dietary department of the Heritage Living Center in a career that spanned over 17 years and allowed her to continue caring for others with her cooking and baking skills that have blessed many. In 2002, Pat’s life was deeply saddened and forever changed by the death of her husband, Lyle after 42 years of marriage. She retired in 2011; but, continued living on the farm which she has called home for 57 years. Pat will be lovingly remembered for her deep devotion to her husband, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved with all her heart. She is survived by her four daughters: Lori (Kevin) Luksik of Delano, MN, Pam (Jerry) Brandenburg and Jan (Terry) Burlingame all of Park Rapids and Barb Dennis of Fargo, ND; her nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren with one more on the way; sister-in-laws: Jane, Lola and Carolyn Dennis; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
