Ruth "Dixie" Alice Buck February 28, 1934 - October 7, 2017 Ruth “Dixie” Alice Buck went home to be with Her Lord and Savior, and her husband Lawrence early Saturday morning, October 7, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She had been living at the Heritage Memory Cottages in Park Rapids for the past 4 years. Ruth was born on February 28, 1934 to Wendell and Ruth “Rhena” (Williamson) Parker in Langdon, ND. At a young age she moved with her family to Kabekona, MN. She graduated from nearby Laporte High School. Ruth then went on to Teacher’s Training and taught school in Nary and Shevlin for a short time. Ruth met the love of her life, Lawrence P. Buck on a blind date in 1958 and after a short courtship were married on June 14, 1958. It was a match made in heaven! To that union 5 children were born: Alice Vossler of Big Lake, MN, Philip Buck (Karen) of Grove, Oklahoma, Larry Buck ( Pam ) of New Baden, Illinois, Rose Vetrone (Mike) of Foreston, MN, and James Buck (Leslie) of Windsor, Colorado. With a fourth child on the way it was time to get a house and the little town of Lake George was chosen. They lived in Lake George, MN most of their married life and raised their 5 kids there. After several years of employment at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dixie retired and traveled with Lawrence to different construction jobs. Ruth was a homemaker and loved to bake and sew. She made numerous quilts and afghans and was always busy. Ruth and Lawrence were charter members of the Kabekona Community Church where she played the organ and piano for several years. She loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she will be truly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and close friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her parents, a sister and 2 brothers,a nephew, and a step grandson.
