JEANETTE DIANE SCHULTZ February 22, 1945 – November 4, 2017    Jeanette Diane Schultz, age 72 of Menahga, MN, formerly of Parkers Prairie, MN and Rapid City, SD, peacefully entered the splendor of Heaven in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids following a valiant battle against cancer.    Jeanette was the daughter of Wilson and LaVerna (Mettler) Smith and was born on February 22, 1945 in Aberdeen, SD. As a child she moved with her family to Rapid City, South Dakota where she attended public school, graduating from the Rapid City High School with the Class of 1964. As a teenager she gained employment working for the Woolworth Department Store in Rapid City as a sales clerk. On June 11, 1966, Jeanette was united in marriage to Duane Delbert Schultz at the Atonement Lutheran Church in Rapid City. They were blessed with a son, Matthew Delbert. The young couple made their home in Rapid City for a time where Duane worked as an electronic/mechanical technician on the Minute Man Ballistic Missile Program. Jeanette was a devoted wife and travelled with her husband to the numerous airforce bases involved with this program and created a warm and loving home for her husband and son wherever they lived. Over the years, they made their home at the following airforce bases: Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City SD, the Grand Forks AFB and the Minot AFB in North Dakota, The Warren AFB in Cheyenne, WYO, the Whiteman AFB in Missouri, the Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls , MT and the Hill AFB in Utah. During the 1980’s, Jeanette and Duane owned and operated a dairy farm near Parkers Prairie, MN. In addition they also lived in Seattle, WA and in San Antonio, TX where Jeanette loved operating a Day Care in her home for a number of years. In 2002, they retired and moved to Erhart, MN and then moved to Menahga, MN a year later in the fall of 2003 where they have lived since. Jeanette was a wonderful cook who will be long remembered for her delicious potato salads. She loved working with her hands sewing, knitting, quilting and crocheting. She loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed working in her vegetable garden nurturing her harvest into fruitful abundance and raising beautiful flowers into colorful splendor. Jeanette was a faithful member of St. Johns Lutheran Church where she enjoyed serving on the altar guild and putting her floral talents to good use. Above all, Jeanette dedicated her life to her husband and family who she loved with all her heart.    She will be lovingly remembered by her husband for these past 51 years, Duane D. Schultz; her son, Matthew and his wife, Melodie and grandchildren: Jon and Bella all of Duluth; her half brothers and sisters; her Aunt Dolly and many nieces and nephews. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents.    Services will be held 1 PM Friday, November 10th, 2017 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with the Rev. James Neubauer officiating. The organist will be Cheryl Hilgeman. A luncheon hosted by her church family will follow the service. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
