VIRGINIA MAY FISHER June 8, 1921 – November 19, 2017 Virginia May Fisher, age 96, peacefully passed into eternity at her home north of Nevis on Sunday evening, November 19, 2017. Virginia was born on June 8, 1921 in Minneapolis to Alexander and Marie (Franks) Forbes. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis with the class of 1939. During World War II, she married John Robert Wallen and worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” building ships in Long Beach, CA for the war effort. They were blessed with three children: Bruce, Teresa and Gail. After her husband’s passing in 1953, Virginia was married to Warren Joseph Fisher in 1957. Together, they purchased the Gambles Hardware Store in Nevis where they moved to run the store in January of 1958. Working side by side, they operated their store and later an antique mall for over 35 years. They had two sons: Thomas and Daniel. Their home on Spider Lake was better known as “Fisher Point”. She will be long remembered as a very special, loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her brother: Richard (Ethel) Forbes; two daughters: Teresa (Lon) Simpson and Gail (Larry) Johnson; her two sons: Thomas (LuCinda) Fisher and Daniel (Jessica) Fisher; as well as her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her husbands: John Wallen and Warren Fisher; her son, Bruce Wallen and her sister, Adelaide Rood. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Park Rapids with Clair Erickson officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. The church family will host a lunch for all following the service. Casketbearers will be: Christopher and Jordan Fisher; Tyler, Nolan and Evan Booge; Waylon, John and Daniel Johnson and Adam Fisher. Interment will be in the Resthaven Cemetery in Nevis, MN.
