GERALDINE GRACE “GERRY” OHLGREN April 13, 1943 – November 29, 2017    Geraldine Grace “Gerry” Ohlgren, age 74, a long time Menahga, MN area resident, peacefully passed into the eternal glory of heaven on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones at the St. Cloud Hospital, due to complications following open-heart surgery.    Gerry was born on April 13, 1943 in Rush City, MN to Ernest and Wanda (Onasch) Anderson. She attended a two room country school house and grew up near Stacy, MN, until moving with her family to Nevis, MN in 1971. On June 25, 1988, Gerry’s life was fulfilled and made complete in her marriage to Allen L. Ohlgren and they made their home in Menahga.  Gerry devoted her life to making a loving home for her husband and children. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious home cooking. Each spring she looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden that she nurtured into fruitful abundance to can and preserve for her family. Gerry also enjoyed raising beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. She would often work late into the night sewing, embroidering or quilting gifts for family or friends. She loved to feed and watch the hummingbirds that graced their property. In addition, Gerry was a loyal MN Twins fan who rarely ever missed a game on television or the radio. Above all, Gerry devoted her life to the happiness of her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart.    She will be lovingly remembered by her husband and soulmate, Allen L. Ohlgren of Menahga; her children: Rick (Gale)Butler of Des Moines, IA, Sherry (Art) Edwards of Lake George, MN, Todd (Michelle) Butler of Des Moines, IA, Chris (Gloria) Butler of Menahga, MN, Ralan (Tina) Nelson of Perry, IA, Melissa (Daren) Hendrickson of Monticello, MN and Sara Nelson of Park Rapids; twenty-four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; step-children: Tom (Mary) Ohlgren of Burbank, CA, Terry (Shelly) Ohlgren of Alexandria, Traci (Steve) Moreland of Aitkin, MN and Dan (Amanda) Ohlgren of Rogers, MN; nine step grandchildren; her brother, Ron (Bobbie) Anderson of International Falls, MN and her sister, Nancy (David) Oberg of Center City, MN as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.    Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Keith who died in 1961; a sister, Carolyn White who died in 2012; two nephews: Don White who died in 2007 and Shane Oberg who died recently on October 6th, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the First English Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN. Casket bearers will be: Rick Butler, Todd Butler, Chris Butler, Ralan Nelson, Art Edwards, Daren Hendrickson, Dan Ohlgren and Tom Ohlgren. Honorary casket bearers will be: Ricky Butler, Jordan Kling, Nick Butler, Brandon Butler, Alex Nelson, Ethan Hendrickson, Isaiah Stoehr, and Christopher Stoehr. Interment will be made in the Jim Cook Cemetery east of Menahga.
