MARY ELIZABETH GANYO December 11, 1946 – June 6, 2018 Mary Elizabeth Ganyo, age 71 of Nevis, MN formerly of Belgrade, MN, peacefully passed from this life on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN with her loved ones at her side. Mary was born on December 11, 1946 in Breckenridge, MN to Willard and Margaret (Foley) Dablow. She attended public school in Breckenridge, graduating with the high school class of 1964. Mary then went on to attend Minnesota State University-Moorhead, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology in 1968. She was united in marriage to Dave Ganyo on August 10th, 1968 and they were blessed with three children: Shaun, Beth and Steve. Mary began a long career as speech clinician working with both the Detroit Lakes and Frazee school districts in 1968. In the beginning of the 1970-71 school year Mary and Dave both began teaching in the Belgrade Public School system where she continued working as a speech clinician for thirty years, until her retirement in 2000. Following Dave’s retirement two years later, they moved to their lake home on Beautiful Lake Belle Taine near Nevis, MN. Mary loved traveling and especially enjoyed exploring the enchantment of New Mexico. Her hands were very skilled in doing cross-stitch something she enjoyed doing as gifts for family and friends. Mary and Dave enjoyed riding their bikes around the lake and the heartland trail as well as other scenic routes around the state. In addition, Mary and Dave enjoyed volunteering for a number of years with the Living At Home organization. She had a profound love for animals and especially loved the canine pets that had graced her life throughout the years. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband for the past 50 years, Dave Ganyo of Nevis; three children: Shaun Ganyo of Moorhead, MN, Beth (Kevin) Nordstrom of Hermantown, MN and Steve (Johanna) Ganyo of Mpls.; two grandchildren: V. Ganyo and Jacob Jonas; three brothers: Bob (Kathy) Dablow of Sabin, MN, Patrick (Lorrie) Dablow of Virginia Beach, VA and Bill Dablow of Wahpeton, ND; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and twin siblings who died in infancy. Private family services are being planned near the date of their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
