DAVID LEE DANKS April 15th, 1948 – July 6th, 2018 David Lee Danks, 70, died July 6th, 2018 at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. His life celebration service will be held Thursday July 12th, 2018 at the Assembly of God Church in Park Rapids, MN at 2pm for family & friends to commemorate his life and share their stories of a man who touched the hearts and lives of so many people. David was born April 15th, 1948 in Park Rapids, MN to James & Myrtle Danks. He was then raised in the Lake George/Laporte area where he attended school. As a young man, David provided for his family working in the oil fields of Texas and Oklahoma where he raised four children: Dawn Marie, Douglas Clayburn, Denise Ane and Kathryn Kay. David made Park Rapids his final home in 2010 after moving between MN & OK. Upon his arrival back to MN he started attending the Assembly of God Church coming back to his faith. Here he was made a deacon of the church & he would always say “Who would think this ole’ hippy would one day become a deacon in a church”. David loved being in the outdoors having been the son of a logging & trapping man. Hardly a day went by that you wouldn’t find him in his shop “tinkering” on something. He had a way with people, always spreading sunshine with his bright smile and booming laugh. The twinkle in his hazel eyes always let you know that he was up to something. He is lovingly remembered by his three daughters: Dawn & her fiancé Norman of Park Rapids, MN; Denise & her husband Ryan of Cordell, OK; Kathryn & her husband Josh of Bessie, OK; brothers Larry and Bruce Danks both of Park Rapids; sisters Vivian Greer, Maxine Willis, Roxanne Entwistle all of Park Rapids, MN and Jan Shell of Menahga; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends. David was preceded in death by his parents James & Myrtle; three sons, David Jr., Douglas & John; three brothers, Harry, Clayton and Bob; two sisters, Grace & Rosemary.
